Do I need to bring anything to the appointment?
We encourage you to bring anything that might help us to care for you:
- Footwear: Work, exercise, casual, slippers, thongs.
- Orthotic devices: If you have orthoses now or previously, please bring them along.
- Previous results: If you have had imaging/results, please bring them.
- Referral: A referral is not required to see our Podiatrists but if you have one, please bring it along.
- Comfortable clothing: You’ll be doing some walking/activity as part of your assessment. Please dress appropriately if possible.
- Medicare card & health insurance card: Where applicable we can process your rebate at our clinics.

What happens during my appointment?
For most people, their first appointment will involve:
- Taking your medical history. When you arrive for your first appointment you will be asked to complete your medical history form. Your podiatrist will then go over this with you at the start of the appointment to ascertain any additional detail required.
- Talking about your concerns. Your podiatrist will then discuss with you the nature of the issue you have attended for. They’ll ask questions to discover the duration, severity and cause of your concern.
- Physical examination. In most cases the next step will be a physical assessment of your feet and lower limbs. This may include walking, range of motion testing, and muscle testing, among others.
- Diagnostics. Your podiatrist will discuss what they feel is the likely cause of your concerns and potentially organise additional imaging, referrals or tests to help begin the process of recovery if required.
- Treatment. Your podiatrist will begin performing and recommending treatment processes based on the outcomes of their assessments and diagnosis to date.
