Shockwave Therapy //

Hurst Podiatry are excited to announce they are now offering shockwave therapy at their Healesville clinic (402 Maroondah Highway). Radial Shockwave therapy is a simple non-surgical non-invasive therapy that research shows can be more than 90% effective in significantly improving a variety of conditions particularly heel spurs, plantar fasciitis and achillies pain.

Shockwave Therapy uses a machine which fires an acoustic 'pulse' into damaged tissue through a special hand piece with the aim of reducing pain and stimulating a healing response.

The pulse generated helps to reduce pain by interfering with the pain signals produced at the site of the injury. This leads to a cascade of beneficial effects includes increasing circulation to the injury, reversal of chronic inflammation, breakdown of scar tissue and calcium build-up(bone spurs).

Shockwave can be used as a standalone therapy but normally works best when used in combination with other appropriate exercises, physical therapies and other treatment options. Our team of podiatrists will be able to guide you through all of these solutions.
