Achilles Tendonitis //
What causes Achilles Tendinosis?
Most times Achilles Tendinosis is normally caused by overuse amongst athletes and heavy runners. This is not always the case though and Achilles pain requires careful assessment and management. Due to the poor blood supply of tendons this can be a stubborn slow healing injury so careful identification of the causes of the injury such as tight calves, over training, wearing the wrong types of shoes and foot structure is critical to reducing the pain.
How is Achilles Tendinosis Treated?
Treatment is often centred around trying to work out exactly what the cause of the pain is and addressing these deficiencies. Possible treatment options at Hurst Podiatry include shockwave therapy, dry needling, training load management, orthotics, footwear reselection and a custom exercise rehab program.
